FPHC and LGFI Volunteers for Brigada Eskwela

Twenty one employees from First Philippine Holdings, Corp. and Lopez Group Foundation, Inc. traded a few hours of office work to paint the Nagpayong Elementary school in Pasig last June 6, 2008.

Impervious to the blazing noon sun, executives and staff alike rolled their sleeves to coat the graying walls of the school with fresh paint. After a couple of hours of labor, the façade of the school gleamed ivory white. The 6,226 students of Nagpayong will see their old school look new.

This volunteerism effort is in support to the Department of Edudcation’s (DepEd’s) Brigada Eskwela-- the annual school maintenance drive in partnership with Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP). DepEd Secretary Jesli Lapus attributed the increase in enrollment rate and consequent decrease in school opening problems nationwide to Brigada Eskwela efforts.
