What better way to help those stricken by typhoon Frank by tapping the micro enterprises?

55 year old Abelina G. Cacao, a micro-entrepreneur assisted by ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation, was mostly selling blankets and bed linens door to door. Like the erratic weather, sometimes her income spikes favorably, and sometimes she has to pack her products and admit that it wasn?t just her day.

Bayan Academy: Center for Social Entrepreneurship

ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation inaugurated Bayan Academy, a training facility for entrepreneurship, management, and education training programs. Courses are for development institutions, cooperatives, banks, educational institutions, and micro and small enterprises. It will also provide livelihood and skills training courses to equip microfinance clients in their enterprises.

Mobilized 29 residents of Brgy. Laurel, Batangas to form the “Bayanihan Multipurpose Cooperative.” The cooperative sews different kinds of garments & textiles and gets clients from FPIP contractors and employees. FPIP gave funding for 5 sewing machines and taught the cooperative members how to raise their resources.

An integrated area development program addressing lack of access to basic services and livelihood. It is a community development program for 26 urban poor communities in Metro Manila. Meralco provides community infrastructure and risk reduction management, specifically, technical assistance in fixing electrical wiring through provision of technical assistance in priority communities.
