Corporate Social Responsibility has become part of the strategic goals of most companies and First Philippine Industrial Corporation (FPIC) is no exception. As proof of this, FPIC’s numerous CSR activities every year include scholarships, donations of books, Knowledge Channel and computers to various schools. We also have the Medical Missions for the barangays, and these are just naming a few of them.
For this year I have attended 2 CSR activities, the 1st one was the Paint-A-School done last June 6, 2005 and the 2nd one is the Medical Mission, which was done last July 6, 2005 in Brgy. Paraiso. When I decided to attend this activity I thought it would be easy since we would only be distributing medicines. How wrong I was! It was a hectic day. We had to learn how to read prescriptions fast because of the number of people piling up to get their medicines. Luckily, I was able to understand the doctors’ handwriting after a couple of trial and error and we had the help of a lot of people who were very much willing to assist in organizing the people to avoid disorder and verifying the medicines we issued. It was a tiring experience but it was worth it – another victory in FPIC’s long list of CSR activities.
